Dr. Lee

Janet Lee, DVM

Dr. Janet Lee was born in New York and raised in Southern California. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at University of California, Irvine. She transitioned from human medicine to veterinary medicine as her second career and graduated from Midwestern University, College of Veterinary Medicine in Glendale, AZ in 2020.  Her journey in veterinary medicine began when she started volunteering as a veterinary assistant at a city animal shelter and an equine caretaker at a local horse rescue.
Dr. Lee always had a profound love for animals of all sizes since she was a toddler. Her first pet was a green iguana, which spurred her endless passion for reptiles as well as other exotic species. During her first year in vet school, she started her own company dedicated to the conservation of reptiles and education, while volunteering at Phoenix Herpetological Society. She is a member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and published her first online article in 2018 on the husbandry and care for Xenodermus javanicus (dragon snake), a rare species of colubrid in the pet trade that had been infamous for not thriving in captivity. In addition to helping the community and their animals, she enjoys honing her surgical skills through emergency and critical care and researching new and improved techniques on the medical managment of diseases. Some of her hobbies include fishing, hiking, and target practice.
